Trans* and Gender Nonconforming Wellbeing: Summer 2021 Grant Report

The trans* and gender nonconforming community has been under attack as anti-trans sentiment and exclusionary policies have risen in the past two years. In Summer 2021, we distributed $50,000 in direct support grants to ten trans* and gender nonconforming leaders making wellness more accessible for their communities. Some highlights:

• Physical space is key: 30% of applicants requested funding to create a safe, physical space to host classes, events, and community healing.
• Investing in the community starts with the leader: 31% of grant requests supported our wellness leaders’ whole wellbeing, funding safe housing, paying off debt, and restful vacations.
• Sliding scale pricing is transformative: 29% of applicants requested funding so that they can offer their wellness services for free to QTBIPOC,BIPOC, disabled, and/or LGBTQIA+ communities.
